Education

An excursion to the Sydney Royal Easter Show is an amazing opportunity for students and compliments the new syllabus requirements for mandatory agriculture topics from early stage 1 through to stage 5.  Full of interactive, educational and fun experiences the Easter Show is a great yearly excursion for all ages!

Schools Excursions

Full of hands-on activities, interactive sessions, competitions and performances, the Show is the perfect opportunity to obtain a snapshot of Australian agriculture.

School tickets to the Show are available to NSW and ACT public schools, and registered non-government schools. Students must attend as a school group with teacher supervision.

Student Workshops

Dairy Workshop Details
(Stage 4 – 5):


Dive in Dairy in this workshop run by Dairy Australia. Students will delve into the nutritional value of dairy foods and how this related to health and well-being as well as investigating the influence of technology and food production on food supply, society and the environment.


Bush Tucker Workshop Details
(Stage 4 – 5):


Learn about native bush foods in this fantastic workshop run by Bush to Bowl. Students will learn about the nutritional benefits and preparation of traditional foods as well as the important connections to First Nations culture.



Regenerative Agriculture Workshop
(Stage 6):


Join presenters from the Mulloon Institute for an engaging workshop exploring regenerative agriculture and innovative catchment management strategies aimed at addressing land degradation. Learn how collaboration with landholders, government agencies, and local environmental groups is driving the restoration of natural ecosystems impacted by agricultural land use.

This workshop aligns with Stage 6 curriculum outcomes for Agriculture, Biology, and Earth and Environmental Science, making it an excellent Depth Study opportunity. Students will gain practical insights into sustainable land management and the science of ecological restoration.

Stage 4 Technology Mandatory Agriculture Workshop


This workshop is designed to support non-agriculture-trained teachers in feeling comfortable and confident teaching the agriculture component of the Stage 4 Technology Mandatory syllabus. Participants will explore strategies and ideas for teaching the current syllabus outcomes while preparing for the implementation of the new 2026 syllabus.

The workshop will include:

  • A 30-minute presentation highlighting practical approaches and real-world examples.
  • Practical strategies for classroom adaptations in resource-limited schools.
  • A guided outline for teachers to take home and implement in their classrooms.

Whether your school has access to a farm, a kitchen, or neither, this session provides adaptable solutions to fit your resources. Time will also be allocated for questions and collaborative discussion to ensure every participant leaves with actionable insights.


The Art of Chocolate


Create new connections and appreciation of the familiar treat of Chocolate. This new understanding will be put into practice in a fun, engaging context as you explore

The history of cacao, what is chocolate?, the journey from Bean to Bar (Plantation/Factory), regional variations in Chocolate and the crucial awareness of Sustainability and Ethics.

This experience will be guided by Duncan Kendall, Head of Education at the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, sourcing premium chocolates that will have no preservatives, no artificial flavours, simply fresh and naturally flavoured. You will also learn firsthand the key skill of how to eat chocolate to get the maximum taste pleasure by engaging your five senses.

OOSH

Outside of School Hours (OOSH) tickets will be available again in 2025! OOSH tickets are available on weekdays during the school holiday period. In 2025, OOSH tickets will be available for purchase on April 14th – 17th and 22nd.

OOSH excursions provide a fantastic school holiday experience that is interactive, educational, and fun!
