With over 40 different classes to compete in, the Sydney Royal Honey Show is open to beginners and experts alike. From liquid honey to honeycomb, honeybees to native stingless bees, and conventional to modern methods of extraction, all honey is judged in its respective class, with judges on the lookout for qualities such as flavour, aroma, colour, and appearance.

But they don’t stop at honey, this national competition also assesses mead, candles, wax molds, pollen and beeswax. The winning entries are on display every day of the Show.

The Sydney Royal Aviary Bird Show is a celebration of Aviculture in Australia with judging among five species (Parrot, African Lovebird, Budgerigar, Finch, Canary). The competition attracts over a hundred entries with Exhibitors ranging from experienced breeders to juniors proud of their pet birds.

The competition is dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the achievements of breeding studs, offering breeders the opportunity to compete with their peers and gain recognition for their hard work.

Participants benefit from expert feedback provided by knowledgeable and experienced judges, helping to refine breeding practices and enhance herd quality. In addition to the competitive aspect, the event provides valuable public exposure for the animals and studs, elevating their profiles within the industry.

Most people know them as guinea pigs, but to breeders and enthusiasts they are a cavy! These cute and cuddly critters adore human company and make wonderful, easy-to-care-for pets.

At the Show for one day only, the NSW Cavy Club will run two separate competitions, one for individual breed classes and one for the ultimate Best in Show across all breeds.

The annual Sydney Royal Rabbit competition, run by the Rabbit Fanciers’ Society of NSW, is considered the premier event on the competition calendar for rabbit exhibitors, with the 2024 Show attracting record numbers.

The event showcases hundreds of exhibits across multiple species including Fancy, Lop, Fur, and Rex. The competition also has classes for Junior Exhibitors and Show visitors can see the bunnies on displayed and being judged.

Attracting the biggest and most beautiful beasts from across the country, the Sydney Royal Cattle Show is one of Australia’s most prestigious beef and dairy competition, with a Sydney Royal Ribbon, or Championship, not only providing immense pride for exhibitors but also contributing to increased sale prices.

Comprised of the Elders Sydney Royal Beef Cattle Show, Sydney Royal Dairy Cattle Show, Sydney Royal Purebred Steer & Carcase Competition and Sydney Royal Trade Hoof & Carcase Competition, each class will be judged on specific criteria, with structure, yield, temperament, and production being common across all classes.

Six breeds of dairy cattle and up to 20 breeds of beef cattle will be judged during the Show. Exhibitors travel from almost all states of Australia to exhibit their cattle, with up to 1,600 head of cattle onsite over the course of all 12 days.

Totally irresistible! Aged between 3 - 6 months, these little guys romp and roam their way around the ring, capturing hearts everywhere they pass. Every day just before lunch, these littlest wagging tails take to the ring for Best Baby Puppy of the Day, with Best Baby Puppy in Show awarded on 21 April.

A full and strong udder is a must… the judges are looking for cows that can really display lots of milk. They like to see nice legs and feet that can walk long distances. But they also want well-attached udders and nice feet placement.

At the Sydney Royal Easter Show, the best-of-the-best dairy cattle in Australia are on display and ready for assessment. The feature breed in 2025 is the Guernsey.

The Sydney Royal Alpaca & Fleece Show is a premier event on the Australian agricultural calendar, showcasing the finest examples of alpaca breeding and fleece production. Renowned internationally for its prestige, the competition attracts top-quality Suri and Huacaya alpacas, along with a dazzling array of fleece exhibits.

This iconic event highlights the beauty, versatility, and sustainability of alpaca fleece, solidifying its reputation as one of Australia’s most esteemed competitions.

Horse competitions and events have been a part of our Shows since the first one in 1823 when a prize was awarded for best colonial-bred stallion. Since then, the competition has grown in classes, size, and prestige, and is now recognised as one of the largest in Australia.

The beauty and spectacle of horses in competition is a sight not to be missed. Every day of the Show you can see the magnificent equines judged on presentation, movement and manners, whilst the riders are assessed on position, presentation and effectiveness of aids.

Highlights of the Sydney Royal Horse Show include the Col A V Pope Best Gelding Hack over 15hh and the F L Crane Best Mare or Filly Hack over 15hh, along with the Champion Multiple Turnout featuring Heavy Horses and heritage horse drawn vehicles. Returning to the 2025 Show is the popular Fancy Dress Class, open to young riders 5yrs and under 15yrs.

The ADVANCE™ Sydney Royal Dog Show 'Best in Show' Day is the culmination of nine days of judging and brings together the finest representatives of each breed. This distinguished event celebrates the pinnacle of canine excellence.

Showjumping is an Olympic discipline recognised by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI), and Sydney Royal has long been acknowledged as a breeding ground for international competitors.

The judges are looking at both horse and rider, assessing skill, accuracy and training. Professional riders compete in the Open Competitions whilst Junior, Amateur and Pony Club sections remain separate.

In each class horse & rider must jump a course of 10-13 jumps, including some oxers – a jump with two rails that may be set even or uneven. The Grand Prix event sees the best horse and rider combinations required to jump up to 1.60 metres!

Since 1929, the Horticulture competition has been a staple at every Show, though it wasn’t always known by this name. The tradition of showcasing garden treasures dates back even further. In 1869, silkworms were judged, followed by sugar cane and tobacco in 1871, and salads in 1875. By 1929, the focus shifted primarily to flowering and other plants, with fish and aquariums making a brief appearance from 1957 to 1959.

Today, the competition features a vibrant array of cut flowers, cacti and succulents, fruits and vegetables, and four special classes in flower arranging. The pavilion also hosts dynamic floristry competitions throughout the entire Show, offering non-stop floral creativity and inspiration.

New exhibits are judged every second day, with judging concluding around 9:30 am. All exhibits remain on display in the pavilion for visitors to enjoy.
