While there, take the opportunity to drop in for a chat with the friendly staff from the Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW, Seniors Rights Service, Legal Aid Commission of NSW, NSW Trust & Guardian, Ombudsman NSW, Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman and Australian Financial Complaints Agency. All Ombudsman services are free, fair and independent. They manage complaint issues that you are unable to resolve.

If you’re a dog lover, the new Festival of Dog Sports is not to be missed. Taking over the Dog Lawns once the competition wraps up for the day, the Festival of Dog sports will see impressive canines show off their best tricks in ‘fly ball’, ‘scent works’ and ‘dance dogs’ displays.

Established in 2011, this is now one of the biggest frog and reptile competitions in Australia, as well as one of the most popular amongst all Show visitors. Non-venomous snakes, lizards and a range of frogs are judged on appearance and breed standard, so they are certainly not your common garden variety lizards! Australian Wildlife Displays will be hosting talks and displays every day of the Show inside the Pet Pavilion.

Life is sweetest when you have a place to call home, somewhere to rest your weary head and body after a hard day at work – and bees are no different. Help our fuzzy honey-makers with an environmentally friendly hotel they can check in and out of in between flitting to the flowers in your garden. Without bees 75% of our food crops would not exist, so these hotels are as much for our benefit as theirs. The Bee Hotel Workshops are free for children and all materials are provided – along with a helping hand making them and hints and tips for hanging your hotel at home.

Most people know them as guinea pigs, but to breeders and enthusiasts they are a cavy! These cute and cuddly critters adore human company and make wonderful, easy-to-care-for pets. At the Show for one day only, the NSW Cavy Club will run two separate competitions, one for individual breed classes and one for the ultimate Best in Show across all breeds. Don’t miss your chance to get up close and interact with these chatty little creatures who will be sure to steal your heart!

In 1870, cats were surprisingly shown as an extra exhibit in the poultry competition, but in 1929 they were given their own competition and have been the cream of the crop ever since. The ADVANCE™ Sydney Royal Cat Show is recognised as one of the most prestigious competitions in the world for fancy felines, judged by breed, then group and finally by ring. The ultimate winner is then awarded Best in Show, also affectionately and unofficially to be known as ‘top cat’.

From patting a tame parrot to viewing endangered and threatened species, there is something for everyone at the Sydney Royal Aviary Bird Show. Our feathered friends may be small, but they certainly provide the most colourful competition of the Show. Making their Show debut in 1869, they spent most of this time as part of the poultry competition, before finally being given their own competition in 1998.

Not only are goats incredibly curious, they also love to have fun, and what is more fun for a baby goat (also known as a kid) than climbing? Our goats can spend all day climbing up and down their man-made mountain. These kids are natural dare devils and enjoy nothing more than a game or two of ‘king of the mountain’!

Man’s best friend has long been a popular Show attraction, with the announcement of the highly coveted Best in Show drawing huge crowds every year. The central component of the ADVANCE™ Sydney Royal Dog Show is the breed judging, where our canine friends are assessed on their temperament, general appearance, features, height, weight, and colour in accordance with the Australian National Breed Standards. All breeds are assessed by highly qualified judges, with four international judges joining the ranks this year from Germany, Croatia, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. But it doesn’t stop at breed judging! There is plenty of action at the judging lawns, including the Obedience Trials--from novice through to master, and the Agility Competition--where dogs compete to be the fastest and most flawless through a series of obstacles. A number of new events have also been introduced to this year’s program, including a dog tricks competition, and a fun and exciting evening entertainment program featuring Dog Sports, Agility, Flyball, and Rally O.
